See What Sets Us Apart.
There’s a connection between oral health and overall well-being. Let us help you along your wellness journey with teeth cleaning in Asheville, NC.
Here at Asheville Holistic Dentist, we take a comprehensive approach to dental care. We offer both prophylaxis cleanings and periodontal maintenance cleanings.
The Process
Our hygienists will settle you in with an application of our soothing lip balm. We also offer a “Comfort Menu” to help you relax and enjoy your time in our office. The appointment begins with a prerinse to disinfect the mouth and remove existing toxins and bacteria from entering the bloodstream.
Every service includes high-quality filtered water. A dedicated canister of water first goes through a Reverse Osmosis Filtration System. That water goes through a Di-Ionizing Process, a distilling process, and an Ozone process. We make ozonated water fresh daily in our office.
A Standard Prophylaxis Cleaning
For a standard teeth cleaning in Asheville, NC, Asheville Holistic Dentist uses the ultrasonic unit to remove debris from your teeth. The supercharged ozonated water reduces harmful bacteria. The oxygen gets to your red blood cells through the gum tissue and enhances the immune response of your gums.
Hand scaling gently removes the hard plaque, which builds up on your tooth surface. Next, we polish the teeth erase any stains. The paste has NO dyes, NO chemicals, and NO fluoride.
These cleanings are typically on a six month recall. However, keep in mind that having a teeth cleaning appointment more frequently can prevent future dental problems.
Periodontal Maintenance Cleanings
Periodontal maintenance cleanings are for patients that have or have had periodontal disease. They focus on preserving the health of the gums and preventing the progression of gum disease through natural, minimally invasive techniques. These cleanings go beyond standard dental cleanings by incorporating biocompatible and non-toxic materials, avoiding chemicals or substances that may disrupt the body’s balance.
We emphasize the importance of nutrition, stress management, and lifestyle changes in maintaining periodontal health, as these factors can influence gum disease and inflammation. During periodontal maintenance cleanings, the hygienist will focus on removing plaque and tartar from the gum line. They’ll incorporate an ozone treatment and low-level laser therapy to promote gum healing and reduce bacteria without the use of harsh chemicals.
Be sure to schedule peridontal cleanings every three to four months. The time intervals may vary depending on the patient and their dental care needs.
After either cleaning you will receive your lip balm to take along with you and we will also provide you with a travel size toothpaste. Our chosen toothpaste contains Himalayan Neem, a natural antibacterial agent. Neem has been found to be effective in lowering levels of plaque and tartar while reducing inflammation, bleeding gums, and dental infections. It does not contain Fluoride, Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfate, Triclosan or Sodium Hydroxide.
We also provide a sustainably produced biodegradable corn husk toothbrush instead of a plastic one or a replacement head for your electric toothbrush at each cleaning visit.
Scaling and Root Planing
Comprehensive Gum Care for a Healthier Smile
We perform Scaling and Root Planing (SRP) with a focus on minimizing toxicity and supporting overall health and well-being. It is a deep cleaning procedure used to treat gum disease. Scaling involves removing plaque and tartar from the tooth surfaces and below the gum line, while root planning smooths the tooth roots to help gums reattach and heal. This procedure helps reduce gum inflammation and prevents further damage to the gums and supporting bone. Here’s how the process here at Asheville Holistic Dentist may differ from conventional practices:
Non-Toxic Materials
We use biocompatible, non-toxic materials and avoid harsh chemicals like fluoride or certain types of anesthetics. For instance, natural antimicrobial rinses, such as ozone and/or pre-rinses may be used to reduce bacterial infection.
Ozone
We use fresh made Ozone water to disinfect and promote healing. Ozone can be used to treat bacterial infections in the gums and root areas more gently than traditional methods.
Low Level Laser
The laser helps reduce inflammation, kill bacteria and stimulate tissue repair. It’s a non-invasive method that complements the SRP procedure by promoting faster healing and improving overall treatment outcomes.
We keep treatments as minimally invasive as possible, focusing on restoring the body’s natural healing processes rather than relying heavily on drugs or surgical procedures.
